GPHSA/MBA Dual Degree

Full-time Option

Student in classThe full-time dual -degree option provides an opportunity for students to pursue a business administration degree in addition to a health services administration degree. A GPHSA/MBA may be earned by pursuing additional hours of MBA graduate level course work in the Williams College of Business at Xavier University. Candidates for both degrees should declare their intentions when applying and submit one application to the graduate program in health services administration and one application to the Williams College of Business. Assuming the student has completed MBA prerequisites, full-time dual-degree students typically require an additional semester on campus before starting an administrative residency

Students are required to complete 80 credit hours: 40 credit hours of health services administration coursework, 10 credit hours of administrative residency and the master's project and 30 credit hours of business coursework, plus the necessary prerequisites. Upon completion of the dual-degree option, the student receives two separate degrees - the Master of Health Services Administration and the Master of Business Administration.

Part-time Option

The part-time dual-degree option provides an opportunity for students to pursue a business administration degree in addition to a health services administration degree. Candidates for both degrees should declare their intentions when applying and submit one application to the graduate program in health services administration and one application to the Williams College of Business. Students who wish to earn dual degrees must also be accepted by the Williams College of Business, which has its own admission criteria and prerequisites. Part-time dual-degree students require an extra year to complete the curriculum.

Students are required to complete 80 credit hours: 40 credit hours of health services coursework, 10 credit hours of practicum and the master's project and 30 credit hours of business coursework, plus the necessary prerequisites. Upon completion of the dual-degree option, the student receives two separate degrees - the Master of Health Services Administration and the Master of Business Administration.
