The graduate program
in health services administration (GPHSA) was
established in 1958 and has a strong tradition
of success in the field of health services administration.
Upon successful completion of the program coursework
and the administrative residency or practicum,
students are awarded a master of health services
administration (MHSA) degree. The program is accredited
by the Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare
Management Education (CAHME).
Our students tell us they select Xavier's GPHSA because it:
- has an excellent national reputation
- offers a paid 8-12 month administrative residency
under the preceptorship of senior level management
(presidents, vice presidents, chief executive
officers). The annual residency stipend our
students received in 2006 was $36,265
- has an alumni base more than 1,600 strong around the United States and in several foreign countries, many in significant leadership positions in a variety of health care settings including hospitals, group practices, consulting firms, VA health systems and long-term care facilities
- has small class sizes, which offer a personal touch from GPHSA faculty and staff who are genuinely committed to providing each student with the time and expertise needed to succeed
- our program has been accredited by ACEHSA
every year since 1968 when accreditation began.
