Description

Education Services coordinates the library's information fluency initiatives; library instruction, orientations, and tours; off-site programs; out-reach activities; research consultations; and faculty and student library workshops. In addition, education services provides help for many of the library's resources and services in both print and electronic formats.

library Instruction

Instruction Room IFaculty have found that in-class library instruction can improve the quality of students' papers and assignments. As a result of instruction, students experience less anxiety about working in the library and become familiar with basic research techniques. Library instruction sessions can be held in one of the two instruction rooms in the McDonald buiilding or in campus classrooms.

  • Instruction Room I, located on the first floor of the library, is an interactive classroom with 24 computer workstations and ceiling mounted computer projection. The instructor's podium includes a computer workstation with a video switching system that provides interactivity between the instructor’s podium and the students’ workstations.
  • Instruction Room II, located on the second floor of the library, is a demonstration or laptop classroom that seats 36. The instructor's podium includes a computer workstation with computer projection.

The first, and best way, is to contact your department's library liaison. If your liaison is not available, contact Betty Porter at 513 745-4830 or porter@xavier.edu. You can also fill out our electronic instruction request form or use the print form available online in Portable Document Format (PDF). Please send print forms to the attention of Betty Porter at McDonald Library ML 5211. Please allow at least 1-2 weeks notice when scheduling library classes.
