Peer Tutoring

Without question, academic success is a priority of the faculty, staff, and students at Xavier University. It is for this reason that the Learning Assistance Center provides free tutoring services for the entire student population.  These services include:

One-on-one Content-Area Tutoring (for Biology, Math, Spanish, etc.)

One-on-one Study Skills Tutoring (for reading effectively, test taking, etc.)

Drop-In Content-Area Tutoring (for Economics, Music Theory, French, etc.)

The LAC trains and certifies all employed tutors.  Our tutoring program is certified by the College Reading and Learning Association.  In addition, tutors are required to meet GPA standards, provide professor recommendations, and participate in regular tutor meetings.  Go to Be a Tutor to learn more about these requirements.

Tutors who assist students with course material also promote the development of study skills and organization. One-on-one tutoring allows students to have a working relationship with a tutor which is consistent, regular, and comprehensive.  Drop-In tutoring offers more flexibility and allows students to take advantage of tutoring on a more casual basis.

Through these programs, tutors are available to work with students in subjects such as, but not limited to, Philosophy, Math, Sciences, Psychology, and Foreign Languages.
