Communtiy Involvement

Talking on the academic mallUnder the leadership of Xavier President Michael J. Graham, S.J., the University has embarked on a new day in terms of its relationship to the community beyond the institution itself. The thrust of this is captured in the phrase “University as Citizen.” The Brueggeman center is one of an emerging constellation of centers and programs at the University participating in this effort. Whenever possible, the Brueggeman center partners with these other Xavier programs, including:

  • Community building collaborative at Xavier (CBCX)CBCX is the University's internal strategic arm for coordinating
community engagement efforts among students, faculty and staff, providing support in the areas of strategic direction, technical assistance, training, communications and facilitation.
  • Community building institute
  • Ethics/religion & society program
  • The center for business ethics and social responsibility
  • Service learning at Xavier
  • “Theatre of Conscience”
Theater in all of its forms is a tremendous catalyst for dialogue and
a public forum for the expression of ideals and relevant topics. Each
production in the Xavier Players series includes service-learning
projects based on the ethical and/or moral issues in the play.
Participation in this service gives focus and additional meaning to
    the production.
